The role of comprehensive geriatric assessment in older patients affected by knee osteoarthritis: a systematic review

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common musculoskeletal diseases and highly prevalent in older people. Whilst management knee OA usually multidisciplinary, use comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) for this condition still limited. Given background, with systematic review, we summarized current literature regarding importance CGA people affected by OA. A search across several databases was run until 10th April 2022 updated on 21st November any study investigating patients The data were descriptively. Among 295 articles initially included, three studies made context osteoarthritis initiative (OAI) included. All used OAI multidimensional prognostic index (MPI), a composite score derived from CGA. Higher MPI values associated higher risk falls, cardiovascular conditions, fractures follow-up period 8 years after adjusting potential confounders. In conclusion, review evidence OA, finding that MPI, tool, could be useful to early find at conditions are therefore can target personalized interventions preventing these conditions.
